The Pew Research Center recently conducted a survey that revealed that about 9 out of 10 US adults have at least a basic understanding of cryptocurrencies. The survey further stated that only about 13% of Americans have not heard about Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), or any other crypto asset.

However, it revealed that only about 16% of the participants have ever invested in one or more of them.

The Research Surveyed 10,000 Americans

The research contains a survey of 10,000 American citizens to find out their level of awareness of cryptocurrencies. Based on the result, 62% of the respondents say they have heard about crypto assets while 24% of them said they have deep knowledge about cryptocurrencies.

The survey also showed that 21% of Americans with lower incomes have at least a basic knowledge of crypto-assets while about 25% of those with average salaries have the same basic knowledge. Additionally, the poll showed that about 31% of US Americans with higher earnings have heard about cryptocurrencies.

Pew Research carried out a similar study back in 2015, and the present result revealed that the percentage of people with basic knowledge of cryptocurrencies has increased.

At the time, the poll conducted showed that less than 50% have basic knowledge about cryptocurrencies.

Senior Citizens Not Interested In Crypto Investment

Based on the recent survey, Americans aged between 18 and 29 years old are the most active demographic group in the industry. It showed that about 43% of this group has experience using, trading, or investing in digital assets. But for women under 30 years old, the ratio is19%.

The data also indicated that about 4% of those that have ever invested in cryptocurrencies have resigned from their normal jobs.

The research also indicated that most Americans above 65-years-old do not have the desire to trade or own digital currencies. As the survey shows, only 3% of the respondents in this age group admitted ever dealing with cryptocurrencies.
