Axie Infinity Directs Players To A New Mode After Ending Classic Game

Play-to-earn (P2E) blockchain game Axie Infinity no longer offers token rewards in its classic game mode. This removal is intended to turn the attention of users to its new game mode known as Axie Infinity Origin.

The company stated that Smooth Love Portions (SLP) will no longer be available for minting in its classic mode. The Axie Infinity team stated that the SLP rewards will be moved to a new game mode. But minting will not be available on the new mode for one month.

The team says during the period, it will take the mode to a monitoring phase where they would check for exploits, abuses, and bugs. The team described the move as one of its goals to ensure a balanced economy for the Smooth Love Potion token.

Apart from removing classic rewards, the team will allow users to use SLP for different in-game boosts. According to the team, the goal is to add utility to SLP.

NFT Game Dominates The Market

Earlier in February, the Axie Infinity team discontinued the SLP rewards for the adventure daily series and mini-game. The goal was to balance the economy for the SLP token. However, even after taking such a decision, the token still lost 98.7% of its all-time high value of $0.39 in July 2021.

Last year, the non-fungible token (NFT) game accounted for over 60% of the blockchain game NFT transactions. The game has already polarized the P2E model. The project has also outperformed. According to the token information website, the project has garnered $3.5 billion worth of NFT within the last year.

Axie Infinity’s crypto tokens have not performed well during this crypto winter. However, the product’s NFT transaction volume increased by 205% last month. The firm said there is a generally positive reception about the game’s NFTs and features.
