The Chief Operating Officer at Emirates Airline, Adel Ahmed Al-Redha, said that the move towards embracing crypto assets was inspired by the need to create new applications that will track the varying client needs. Al-Redha also said that the airline planned to use blockchain technology to track aircraft records.

“With the metaverse, you will be able to transform your whole processes – whether it is in operation, training, sales on the website, or complete experience – into a metaverse type application, but more importantly making it interactive,” Al-Redha said.

Emirates metaverse and NFT plans

This development comes shortly after Emirates announced a plan to launch metaverse experiences for its customers and employees and launch NFTs. Supporting digital assets is in line with the recent focus of the UAE government on supporting innovative technologies.

The Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said that the company was embracing new technologies to improve its business processes, improve customer experiences and boost the exposure of employees to new skills and experiences.

“We are excited about the opportunities in the digital space of the future and are committing a significant investment in financial and resourcing terms to develop products and services using advanced technologies that will deliver on revenue, brand experience, and business efficiencies,” Al Maktoum added.

Emirates Airline is also committed to transitioning to Web3. The airline has assured its commitment to the Web3 sector, adding that it will hire new employees that will allow it to support its plan for innovation.
