Elon Musk has again come out to show his dislike for non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The Tesla CEO has taken a negative stance against the recent decision by Twitter to integrate NFTs.

Musk blasts Twitter’s NFT feature

Musk took to Twitter to note that the decision by the social media platform was annoying. In his post, he attached an image of a Twitter notification explaining its new feature and how NFTs work.

Musk added that “Twitter is spending engineering resources on this bs while crypto scammers are throwing a spambot block party in every thread.”

This is not the first time that Musk has bashed NFTs. Last year, Musk posted a meme that alluded that NFTs were not factual. The meme featured a person going to a therapy session and talking about NFTs.

In regards to scams, Musk has been targeted several in the past. At some point in 2018, twitter banned users from using usernames with the name “Elon Musk” due to the rising number of scams targeting Musk’s followers. Musk has also been a victim of these scams on YouTube.

Twitter rolls out verified NFT profile picture

Twitter has recently rolled out a new feature that allows users to verify the NFTs used as profile pictures. Before the rollout, anyone could copy any image and use it as their profile picture without verifying ownership. However, this feature will enable NFT enthusiasts to show proof of ownership.

The feature will be only available to those who pay for subscriptions on the Twitter Blue service. The NFTs whose proof has been verified will have a hexagonal border instead of the circular border used originally.

The launch of this feature is the greatest move that Twitter has made regarding NFTs. Twitter has become a major hub for the crypto community over the year, with the NFT creating discussions on the social media platform also increasing significantly.

In November, Twitter announced it was launching a new division that would focus entirely on cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, decentralized applications and NFTs. The platform also launched a crypto tipping feature that supports Bitcoin and Ether.

Twitter’s lead competitor, Meta, is also looking towards launching friendly crypto and NFT support. The company is reportedly working on allowing users to mint and sell NFTs on the Facebook and Instagram marketplaces. This would play a major role in bringing NFTs into the mainstream market.

Your capital is at risk.
