Ethereum has left Bitcoin trailing in the dust over the past week, igniting speculation that the next altcoin season may be underway.
CoinMarketCap data shows the largest altcoin by market cap gained over 42% in the past 7 days, while Bitcoin advance a meagre 7%.
ETH has led the altcoin market cap’s 21% jump in the past 7 days, according to data from TradingView.

At the same time, Bitcoin’s dominance has started to drop after a prolonged uptrend.
Ethereum’s performance has been boosted most recently by the Pectra upgrade, which made it more scalable and cost-effective, and signaled a rotation into altcoins that seems to be gathering momentum.

With macro conditions also improving, risk-on sentiment is returning. That’s boosting altcoins as investors feel more comfortable seeking higher upside potential in the altcoin space.
