Meta, an American multi-national social media platform, has successfully launched its new non-fungible token (NFT) display option on its dashboard. Meta, formerly known as Facebook, will now allow its users to roll out NFTs on its primary social network.
In a July 1 blog post, Navdeep Singh, the product manager of Meta, confirmed the successful launch of the new NFTs feature on Facebook. The new option will allow Facebook users to create customized Facebook posts from their NFTs with a digital collectible tag.
According to Singh, the NFT feature will allow users to link their wallets to their Facebook profiles, where they can showcase their NFTs. The newly customized NFT post can be reacted upon, liked, commented on, or shared, much like other posts.
Meta Roadmap
In the last few months, Meta has made significant progress aiming to maximize market share in the crypto space since its NFTs integration on Instagram. Meta recently announced the introduction of an Avatar Store on Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. The new store will allow users to buy digital cloth to outfit their avatars.
Last month, Meta launched its first physical dubbed “Meta Store.” The store enabled consumers to view and test its virtual reality hardware devices.
In a related development, Meta has just launched its highly anticipated dedicated digital wallet Meta Pay. The new digital wallet will allow Facebook users to buy goods and services for avatars in Metaverse.
While commenting about the crypto development, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, said that the new wallet is a game-changer in accessibility to digital goods and proof of ownership in the Metaverse. He explained:
“In the future, there will be all sorts of digital items you might want to create or buy — digital clothing, art, videos, music, experiences, virtual events, and more. Proof of ownership will be important, especially if you want to take some of these in-game assets across different services.”
According to the top boss, the new wallet will give in-game items in the Web3 an identity that links their purchases to a singular digital identity. The new interoperability will offer creators more opportunities and a better experience.
In the meantime, the American social media platform has begun testing the NFT feature in the United States for Polygon and Ethereum NFTs. However, Meta anticipates adding Flow and Solana NFTs in the coming months.
