Akon, a world-famous artist and avid supporter of blockchain technology, plans to set up a blockchain hub in Kenya, CoinTelegraph has reported.
He’s calling it the Kenyan Opportunity Hub, and it will bring more awareness towards emerging technologies like blockchain, AI, and more. This should also open up job opportunities in the country.
As you may know, Akon’s cryptocurrency, Akoin, is based on the Stellar blockchain. The asset’s website describes the coin as:
“Akoin is a cryptocurrency powered by a marketplace of tools and services fueling the dreams of entrepreneurs, business owners, and social activists as they connect and engage across the rising economies of Africa and beyond; created by visionary global artist, change-maker, innovator and humanitarian, Akon.”
This token is meant for entrepreneurs to grow their own businesses, the website notes. It will also host a dApp marketplace in Africa, as well as allow users to convert cryptocurrency immediately.
Akon is also building what he calls Akon City, a cryptocurrency-powered city in Africa. The asset is currently planning to get listed on different exchanges and may launch a beta platform soon as well.
