Digital Matter, a “global leader in GPS and IoT hardware development,” has announced a partnership with peer-to-peer wireless network developer Helium, according to a press release from both groups. This partnership will ensure that Digital Matter’s GPS and IoT technologies can integrate into Helium’s IoT network for further accessibility.
Helium’s network works, essentially, as a hardware device that ensures anyone can run a device on the IoT. These devices connected together is what the group refers to as “The People’s Network.”
Since it’s based on a blockchain, these hotspots mine cryptocurrency which incentivizes and rewards users that host them.
Speaking on the matter is Matthew Hofmeyr, the Vice President of Sales in North America at Digital Matter:
“Partnering with Helium helped to dissolve many of the technical and financial barriers encountered when setting up LPWA networks for asset tracking applications. With Helium, we now have a reliable and secure, out-of-the-box connectivity solution that our channel partners, businesses and consumers can deploy quickly and easily, substantially accelerating time to market.”
Also sharing some thoughts is Amir Haleem, the CEO and co-founder of Helium, who said:
“We have been a fan of Digital Matter’s GPS and IoT devices for some time and are thrilled to align with them. Partnering with Digital Matter was a logical next step for Helium, and we are looking forward to working together in years to come.”
