Circle, one of the blockchain industry’s top tech firms, has partnered with CryptoKitties creator Dapper Labs to create a new payment solution for blockchain use, according to a press release from the groups.
The goal is for customers to “buy and sell digital collectibles using credit and debit card payments that settle in USD Coin (USDC), the fastest-growing, fully-reserved and regulated digital dollar stablecoin,” the release notes.
As of now, purchasing collectibles such as CryptoKitties on blockchain networks has only been possible with cryptocurrency. Now that these more traditional payment methods are possible, it will make crypto-collectibles more accessible in the long run.
Speaking on the matter is Roham Gharegozlou, the CEO and co-founder of Dapper Labs, who said:
“We’re proud to work with Circle in building an amazing payments experience for all our customers on Flow, starting with NBA Top Shot. Circle’s payment technology combined with the performance of our new network, Flow, means any developer can build crypto-enabled applications without sacrificing user experience.”
Also sharing some thoughts is Circle’s CEO, Jeremy Allaire, who said:
“Dapper is a true pioneer in media and entertainment seizing decentralized blockchain technologies to provide consumers with experiences never before possible. We are proud to be part of the story, enabling Dapper customers to fully participate in unique and highly engaging digital game economies with familiar methods of sending and receiving payments, while also getting the benefits of digital currency.”
