Florida has unveiled a restaurant that has sparked debate for having a crypto-themed menu. Some of the enticing offerings available include hot dogs and shrimp cocktails. The menu has been inspired by a wide range of products in the crypto market, including Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu and even decentralized finance (DeFi).

The restaurant is known as the “Crypto Street Restaurant.” Earlier this month, it had a grand opening where it unveiled a menu filled with various items that have derived their names from popular terminologies in the crypto sector.

Crypto-inspired menu

The menu at this restaurant is filled with popular crypto terminologies. Some of the dishes offered include Dogedog, Crypto Cuban, DeFi Caesar Salad, SHIBA Shrimp cocktail and more.

Additionally, the restaurant is also filled with a crypto-inspired décor. The posters, wall art and furniture, have been inspired by Dogecoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, Elon Musk, among others.

The owner of this restaurant is known as Ricardo Varona. During an interview on December 29 with Tampa Bay Times, Varona stated that he was introduced to crypto by his son. While he was initially sceptical about the sector, he endorsed crypto assets and opened a restaurant that accepts crypto payments.

Varona states that the restaurant accepts payments in all Cryptoassets, including meme coins and other not very popular coins in the market. He also notes that the dogedogs item on the menu is a favourite.

Crypto-themed restaurant gains popularity

Varona noted that his first plan was to launch a chain of restaurants that accepted cryptocurrencies. However, the financial and supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic prompted him to a crypto-themed restaurant.

During the interview, he said, “I kept thinking I want to do something different, something fresh, and I kept thinking about crypto… I calculated what it would be to do something new, cut ties with the franchise and started working on Crypto Street.”

He also mentioned that the restaurant was popular with the young population so far. However, the older population curious about the crypto sector was also intrigued, which according to him, helped create conversation.

Varona further added that the restaurant is open to crypto payments made through a merchant or peer-to-peer account.

On the issue of accepting crypto payments, he noted, “so far, we have had a few transactions in crypto, though a lot of people are interested in using it. There’s also some people who just sold it or want to hold it in the long-term instead. But a lot of people understand that using it adds value.”

Your capital is at risk.
