Australia and New Zealand are getting ready to witness their most prominent move for Bitcoin adoption to date. Over 2,000 Coca Cola vending machines in the two countries will now accept Bitcoin payments.

Big move after the partnership

The move comes after Coca Cola Amatil signed a new agreement with Centrapay. It is one of the major bottlers and distributors of 140 brands in the Asia Pacific region. The Bitcoin payment options will be available on over 2,000 Coca Cola vending machines operated by Amatil’s network. The users can depend on the Sylo Smart Wallet from Centrapay to make payments. This can be done with a QR payment code using their smartphones.

Sylo team confirmed that the crypto payment option has been enabled on Amatil’s machines. It also said that only Bitcoin is being accepted at the machines right now. It plans to add other cryptocurrencies in the future. Centrapay CEO Jerome Faury said that the poor user experiencer and integration complexity are two of the primary reasons why crypto adoption faces problems. He added that now that the company has shown how it could work in Australia and New Zealand, they want to grow their business on a global scale.

North America may also see similar solutions

Faury said that they will look for a presence in North America as well. They will be focusing specifically on the US markets. He talked about bringing world-class innovations to the US markets and said that cryptocurrencies could be used to reduce physical contact with vending machines. This could also be useful in eradicating one of the biggest concerns of users during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sylo Smart Wallet is available for Android as well as iOS and combined a digital wallet with a private messenger. Users can send messages to each other and also make video and voice calls using the app. They will also be able to store Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, which can be sent right within the chat.

When using a Coca Cola vending machine, customers will pay in Bitcoin but the Amatil will be paid in Australian or New Zealand dollars.
