Businessmen, especially in the cryptocurrency space, are known to pull certain stunts once in a while. However, while most of these stunts are usually to promote their businesses or some new product that they’ll be launching, this one has a bit of a twist to it.

On December 7, cryptocurrency insider Jason Appleton announced on Twitter that he has successfully set up a match between Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson and crypto YouTuber ChicoCrypto. The match, which actually started off as a joke, has now been made official, and has been slated to be an August 2020 Mixed Martial Arts match in Cincinnati. However, instead of promoting any product or asset, both parties will be using the match as a means of creating awareness for cryptocurrencies, while the profits gotten from viewership will be shared with the St. Jude’s Hospital.
Getting Revenge on a Troll
Unsurprisingly, the Cardano community will be able to get a crack out of seeing their representative fight for the rights of the asset. While Hoskinson has claimed that the prospect of raising millions for children is great, he also did ascertain that he has “5 years of built-up rage and hatred against trolls” to unload, and he is confident in his significant height advantage to carry him towards a victory.
The trolling that the crypto boss is referring to will most likely be the repeated assertions by ChicoCrypto that Cardano hasn’t done much to achieve tangible impact in the crypto space, with the exception of several academic papers and a dedicated wallet (which he claimed is below average at best.)
However, Hoskinson hasn’t been the only figure or entity within the crypto space that has gotten flack from the investigative YouTuber. Several personalities have been the subject of ChicoCrypto’s ire, including but not limited to Justin Sun (the founder of TRON), Changpeng Zhao (chief executive of Binance), Bakkt, Tether, and Bitfinex. Of course, the YouTuber has made a habit of praising those whom he feels are making good on their promises to change the world with crypto.
Cardano Could Get a Boost From This Too
It is worth noting that an industry such as this is not new to trolls. Apart from the more notable crypto detractors such as Nouriel Roubini and Peter Schiff, several people have made it their habit to scrutinize cryptocurrencies and blockchain projects to the bone, much to the annoyance of several notable industry figures.
Also, while the initiative is meant to spur interest in the cryptocurrency space, it will be a tad short-sighted to think that Cardano wouldn’t be getting a bit of PR value from the fight; especially if Hoskinson is able to eke out a win. As they say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.
Given that he has about nine months to prepare and get in shape for the battle, we’ll just have to wait to find out who steps out of the octagon as the winner.
