Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas expects that spot Ethereum ETFs (exchange-traded funds) will launch on July 2.

In a post on X, Balchunas noted that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has sent comments on the S-1 registration statements. The analyst pointed out that the SEC’s comments were “nothing major” and that it expects responses within one week.

“We are moving up our over/under date for the launch of spot Ether ETF to July 2nd,” Balchunas said. “Staff sent issuers comments on S-1s today… Decent chance they work to declare them effective the next week and get it off their plate before holiday weekend.”

Balchunas further noted that once the ETH ETF issuers get the final approvals, the products will start trading the next day.

SEC Chair Confirms Ethereum ETFs Will Hit The Market This Summer

The forecast comes after SEC Chair Gary Gensler confirmed that spot Ether ETFs will launch “over the course of this summer.”

While speaking at a Senate hearing last week, Gensler noted that the 19b-4 forms approved in May were from the stock exchanges that will list the ETFs. The issuers were still working on the registration process, which Gensler believes will be complete this summer.
