Mark Cuban, the American billionaire crypto investor and owner of the popular National Basketball Association club Dallas Mavericks, has lost $870,000 in a crypto hack.
The investor confirmed the loss in a short interview with DL News. The heist comes just a few days after Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin also fell victim to a hack.

The crypto and NFT investor explained that he went on Google to download a new MetaMask crypto wallet app and accidentally downloaded the MetaMask with some links in it. The incident happened after he logged into his account to clean the app on his phone.
The crypto hack came into the spotlight after WazzCrypto, a pseudonymous on-chain sleuth, noticed some unusual movements in Mark Cuban wallet on blockchain explorer EtherScan. After the on-chain sleuth raised the alarm, the reports rapidly reached Cuban, who has now successfully secured his remaining digital assets.

Mark Cuban NFT And Crypto Foray
Mark Cuban is one of the early adopters of crypto. Cuban has invested in crypto projects such as Dogecoin, as well as accepting the particular cryptocurrency as a method of payment for Dallas Mavericks merchandise and tickets since at least early 2021.
In a past podcast, the crypto investor said that he invested 80% of his recent investments outside of Shark Tank into crypto assets. Cuban has severally considered himself a crypto “evangelist.” He’s extremely bullish on the crypto space and has a wide crypto portfolio of various coins and NFTs.
In June, Mark Cuban turned his book, “How to Win at the Sport of Business,” into an NFT. The NFT book showcased his venture into the world of crypto and literature. Cuban partnered with Book.io, a decentralized marketplace for eBooks and Audiobooks, to launch the NFT book on the Polygon blockchain. Cuban crypto portfolio has made him more vulnerable to hackers and scammers.
