The metaverse ecosystem, which once took the crypto and non-fungible token communities by storm, may soon revive. This is after Yuga Labs, the digital asset incubation studio and the team behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, announced the launching of a new metaverse project in the Moonbirds NFT ecosystem.

Yuga Labs Unveils Moonbirds Universe

In an April 29 blog post, Yuga Labs, through its recently acquired subsidiary firm, Moonbirds, confirmed plans to launch a new metaverse venture dubbed the Moonbirds Universe. In this article, we shall dive in-depth into this now highly anticipated metaverse project.

Launched in 2021, Yuga Labs is the leading web3 lifestyle and media company offering creative brand IP/NFT projects, gaming, and community experiences. Yuga Labs is home to leading non-fungible token collections, including the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Twelvefold, Otherdeed for the Otherside and Bored Ape Kennel Club NFT collection.

The Bored Ape creator also owns the intellectual property for CryptoPunks and Meebits, an NFT collection. Earlier this year, Yuga Labs acquired PROOF, which included more NFT collections, such as the PROOF Collective, Moonbirds, Oddities, Mythics, and Grails exhibition series.

Moonbirds Universe Overview

Since Yuga Labs envisions shaping Web3 through storytelling, gaming experiences, and community interaction, the Bored Ape creator has announced plans to build the Moonbirds Universe, a metaverse project created for enthusiasts of Moonbird and Mythics NFT collections.

By descriptions, the metaverse is a loosely defined term referring to virtual worlds in which users represented by avatars interact, usually in 3D and focused on social and economic connection. In that context, Yuga Labs will create a new art direction and 3D avatars built for animation, Otherside, and beyond. Moonbirds are going to be more than just pixel jpg collections.

The Yuga Labs team anticipates creating a place where collectors can take their Moonbirds avatar characters and call them home. This will be a new digital space for all Moonbirds NFT holders to connect and immerse themselves in the world of Volaria.
