A recent press release by Dubai’s ministry of community development unveiled the newest face of crypto adoption in Dubai, Blockathon. Blockathon is a blockchain competition targeted solely at blockchain developers to create an app or website that will be beneficial to the general public. The app or website will be serving in the educational, recreational and social aspects of life.

This competition is to encourage blockchain experts to build a multi-dynamic Distributed Ledger Technology(DLT).
The competition was announced during a major tech event and hopes to achieve through it a much better life for its populace.
The competition will be a teamwork between the blockchain developers, interface and graphic designers as it would incorporate all this to build such an app or website.
Some aspects of the competition are ‘applications for people of determination’, ‘applications for senior citizens’, ‘blockchain solutions for multiple use cases’ and more. The participants are to choose from the topics and themes so listed on the blockathon info.
Blockathon Dubai: The Rules
The DLT solutions must be an innovation built from scratch. No replica, reformed or already built app or software.
The Finished Product Must Be DLT Supported
The accuracy, ease of use, security, creativeness/innovativeness of the product will go a long way in winning the competition as well as that seamless glide with other tech systems and apps.
1st place in the Blockathon goes home with AED 30,000 ($8000 approximately) while 2nd and 3rd place go home with AED 20,000 and 10,000 respectively.
All submissions for the completion must be done on or before February 1st, 2020. The prizes will be awarded at the UAE innovation event that same month.
The Aim
The competition is open to members of the community to support the ease of service provision in the community, create and support sustainable community development visions and ideas while achieving the strategic goals of the ministry as specified in the UAE vision 2021 and 2071 centennial goals.
