Animoca Brands, the metaverse and gaming venture capital firm focusing on driving digital property rights to gamers and internet users through non-fungible tokens, has teamed up with Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab, to boost web3 initiatives on Mocaverse.

Animoca Brands vs Ubisoft Integration

In a November 21 blog post, Animoca Brands confirmed partnering with Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovations Labs to support its Web3 initiatives on Mocaverse, the marquee membership project created by Animoca Brands. The partnership appeared a few hours after Ubisoft sealed another deal with the Sandbox.

Established in 2014, Animoca Brands is a Hong Kong-based game software company and venture capital company that initially focused on developing mobile games, before shifting to blockchain gaming and non-fungible tokens sometime in 2018.

The company is renowned for developing and publishing a broad portfolio of products including original games such as The Sandbox, Phantom Galaxies, Life Beyond, and Crazy Defense Heroes. Animoca Brands has also produced products utilizing popular intellectual properties from sports and entertainment, such as The Walking Dead and Power Rangers.

On the Other hand, Ubisoft is a French-based video game publisher headquartered in Saint-Mandé with development studios across the world. The company is renowned for its video game franchises, which include the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, For Honor, Just Dance, Prince of Persia, Rabbids, Rayman, Tom Clancy’s, and Watch Dogs.

Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab is recognized for meticulously analyzing emerging technological, business, and societal trends. The lab identifies innovative opportunities and collaborates with internal and external partners to develop prototypes and pilot projects that explore new areas.

Under the new integration, the blockchain gaming giant Animoca Brands anticipates leveraging Ubisoft tech capabilities to boost web3 initiatives in its Mocaverse. Launched earlier this year, Mocaverse is an NFT project from Animoca Brands that aims to strengthen the company’s ecosystem of Web3 and metaverse-centric projects.

Mocaverse is building an interoperable metaverse experience layer across over 400+ Animoca Brands’ network of portfolio companies and extended partner networks, focusing on Web3 identity, social, and growth in the areas of culture and entertainment.

Through the Ubisoft partnership, Mocaverse will integrate Champions Tactics Grimoria Chronicles into its Web3 Frequent Player Program as one of the anchor activations for Mocaverse. While commenting about the partnership, Yat Siu, the executive chairman of Animoca Brands, remarked:

“Animoca Brands is dedicated to onboarding users to Web3 through gaming, culture, and entertainment. We’re incredibly excited to partner with Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab to drive awareness and facilitate user onboarding by tapping into the Mocaverse program and incentives.”

The new integration appeared a few hours after Ubisoft signed another partnership deal with The Sandbox, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands. The Sandbox and Ubisoft joined to celebrate the launch of Captain Laserhawk Blood Dragon on Netflix. As part of the celebrations, the joint team launched a new NFT collection, enabling users and gamers to enter the metaverse as Eden citizens using their exclusive avatar collection.
