US crypto czar David Sacks said the nation is ”on the cusp of a golden age in digital assets” and praised Bitcoin as an ”excellent store of value.”

A new regulatory framework for the crypto industry could be approved by Congress within the next six months, he added.

The US is “very committed to moving legislation through the House and the Senate this year in order to provide that clear regulatory framework that the digital assets ecosystem needs to sustain innovation in the United States,” he said during a Jan. 4 appearance on CNBC’s “Closing Bell Over Time.”

David Sacks Says Stablecoin Legislation A Top Priority

Sacks and other leaders that were present at a press conference earlier in the day said that creating US stablecoin legislation is a top priority.

They added that they would support a stablecoin bill introduced by Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn,), who has already proposed new rules as part of a “clear regulatory framework” for anyone that wants to use them.

“The power of stablecoins is that it could extend the dollar’s dominance internationally, extend it online digitally, and create potentially trillions of dollars of new demand for our U.S. Treasuries,” Sacks said.

Ensuring US dominance in digital assets is a central goal, he added. The nation wants to keep innovation and value creation onshore, rather than giving it away to other countries, he said.

According to Sacks, a top agenda for his new digital asset task force is also to evaluate the “feasibility of a bitcoin reserve.” Trump has already asked Sacks and his team to study whether it is feasible to create a Bitcoin reserve or any other digital asset stockpile.
