Deaton said that while Warren has said all banking executives deserved prison time for their role in the “Great Financial Crisis,” and promised to hold them accountable for the financial collapse in 2008-09, she subsequently supported their bailouts.
The pro-crypto lawyer also said that Senator Warren’s policies are designed to shield the current financial system to the detriment of innovation within the crypto space.
Warren Has Criticized Crypto Billionaires Backing John Deaton
Deaton comfortably won the Republican nomination for the US Senate in the Massachusetts primary election. Politico data shows that he received 135,557 votes, making up 64.9% of the votes that were submitted. He was also able to outraise Warren in the first quarter of 2024 due to backing from crypto industry titans.
Warren is known for having an anti-crypto stance, and has claimed that the technology’s only use is to facilitate illegal activities.
By backing Deaton, crypto executives hope to change current crypto policy in the US that has seen the Securities and Exchange Commission initiate a series of lawsuits against companies operating in the space.
After Deaton’s primary victory, Warren criticized the “small handful of crypto billionaires” who donated more than $2 million to her rival’s campaign.
