Matt Furie, an American digital comics artist and illustrator renowned for creating Pepe the Frog, is back in the crypto market with another hit non-fungible token collection. Furie has dropped a new NFT collection called The Peplicator, which has gained mainstream adoption across the NFT market.

The Peplicator Lands In The NFT Market By Storm

On March 09, 2024, the digital artist and creator Furie launched his new Peplicator non-fungible token collection. Matt Furie has teamed up with Chain Saw, a renowned crypto project that aims to create a decentralized platform for peer-to-peer lending and borrowing, to develop the new hit NFT series.

The Peplicator is a non-fungible token collection with a limited supply of 22,065 NFTs hosted on the Ethereum blockchain network. During the launch, the minting price for regular users was 0.1 ETH, while for HEDZ NFT holders, the mint price was 0.042 ETH. ZOGZ and Pepe Open Editions holders had an exclusive opportunity to access half-price minting.

Matt Furie drew his green character for an innocent online comic in 2015. Nonetheless, the well-intentioned cartoon frog came into the spotlight in early 2021 and quickly went viral to become a symbol recognized and adored worldwide. Its green face has graced countless memes, expressing many emotions and resonating with internet users from all walks of life.

Despite his universal appeal, Pepe the Frog became controversial when certain hate groups appropriated him during the United States Presidential Election. Pepe has morphed from a harmless character into a symbol embraced by the alt-right, a popular internet meme, an NFT sensation, and even a viral coin.

On several occasions, Pepes have been tokenized on the Bitcoin blockchain, preceding the popularity of Ethereum-based NFT collections like CryptoPunks. The growing demand for digital collectibles led to the emergence of platforms where creators could publish their art as tokenized assets, allowing for the trading and storing of these digital images.

The Peplicator Ranks Top In NFT Sales

In the meantime, the Peplicator NFT collection continues gaining traction among traders and collectors. In the past 24 hours, the Peplicator NFT series has amassed a trading sales volume of $3.8 million. The NFT collection has seen 1,176 buyers and 1,123 sellers. The Peplicator NFT ranks top in NFT sales, trading behind popular NFT collections like the Bitcoin Ordinals, Blast Box and Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collections.
