Nike Launches New NFT Collection ‘Our Force 1’ To Celebrate Its First 50 Years

Through its new virtual creation platform, dot SWOOSH, luxury sportswear brand Nike has launched its first digital-creation collection, Our Force 1(OF1). Nike has co-curated with the dotSWOOSH community to develop the new virtual products.

Nike Launches Our Force 1 NFTs To Mark 50+ Years

In an April 17 press release, the luxury sportswear brand confirmed launching its first-of-a-kind non-fungible token collection dubbed, Our Force 1. The new NFTs will feature a collection of virtual shoes with different rarities.

Founded in 1964, Nike is a multinational corporation engaged in designing, developing, manufacturing, and worldwide marketing and sales of footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories, and services. Nike is renowned as one of the most valuable brands among sports businesses. The luxury brand employs more than 76,000 people worldwide.

The 59-year luxury sportswear brand has launched the new non-fungible token collection “OF1” as a tribute to the first 50 years of service delivery and an homage to the creativity and versatility of the Air Force 1. While commenting about the new NFT collection, Ron Faris, the GM of Nike Virtual Studios, remarked:

“The OF1 collection shows how Nike will continue to innovate at the intersection of play and culture for the future of sports. We are exploring new ways to tell stories and create relationships while removing the barriers and limitations of physical product. With more members choosing to express themselves across physical and digital worlds, .SWOOSH is the marketplace of the future.”

Nike’s Our Force 1 NFTs Explained

The new OF1 NFT collection comes in two digital “boxes,” the Classic Remix box and the New Wave box. Each box costs $19.82 and contains a digital Our Force 1 version of an iconic Air Force 1 NFT collection.

The Classic Remix box will feature classic archive AF1 virtual shoes released from 1982 to 2006, while the New Wave will feature virtual archive assets from 2007 to date. The new collection will allow SWOOSH members to unlock virtual shoes, learn its unique features, and unlock utilities for special access to physical products and experiences in the coming months.

In the meantime, the sportswear brand has already begun airdropping AF1 posters to randomly selected .SWOOSH members. On May 8, 2023, this group will be given first access to the OF1 auction. Nike will officially launch general minting on May 10.
