Digital asset incubation studio and the Bored Ape Yacht Club creator Yuga Labs have announced plans to acquire Roar Studios, a music and metaverse startup led by long-time entertainment Executive, Eric Reid, to execute our expansive vision for Otherside Meta.

Yuga Labs Acquires Roars Studios

In a July 31 press release, the Bored Ape Yacht Club creator confirmed plans to acquire Roar Studios, a company at the convergence of gaming, social media, and the metaverse with deep technology and AI roots. Yuga Labs anticipates leveraging Roars web3 capabilities to boost its Otherside metaverse.

Launched in 2021, Yuga Labs is home to a series of NFT collections, including Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Bored Ape Kennel Club, Otherdeed for the Otherside, Sewer Pass, TwelveFold, Koda NFTs and Bored Ape Yacht Club. The digital asset firm also owns intellectual property “IP” for Meebits and CryptoPunks NFTs.

Yuga Labs has agreed to acquire Roar Studios to fulfill the Otherside metaverse vision. Roar Studios is the developer of ROAR, an immersive media experience where artists and fans connect, collaborate, and compete in real-time from anywhere. ROAR combines innovative proprietary technology with established MMO game and platform systems to produce an entirely new product category.

Yuga Labs To Expand Its Otherside Metaverse

Under the new expansion, the Roar team and Yuga Labs will contribute their innovative technology, specialized expertise, and leadership to jointly accelerate the Otherside metaverse. While commenting about the development, Daniel Allegre, the Chief Executive Officer of Yuga Labs, remarked:

Roar’s dedication to creative content creation and social connections will accelerate our execution of our bold vision for Otherside and Yuga’s ecosystem more broadly.”

Following the acquisition, Reid will join the Yuga Labs team as the General Manager of Otherside. He will be charged with evolving the vision and leading the development and production of the platform, together with other highly experienced Yuga executive team members. Before he joined Roar, Reid spent more than two decades building teams and creating and distributing film, television, and music content for audiences worldwide.
