Funko, an American company that manufactures licensed and limited pop culture collectibles, best known for its licensed vinyl figurines and bobbleheads, has partnered with Droppp.io, an exclusive non-fungible token marketplace for pop culture fans, to launch a new non-fungible token collection.

Batman Marks 85th Anniversary

In a June 10 blog post, Funko and Droppp.io, the NFT market platform, confirmed plans to launch a new non-fungible token collection this week. The now highly anticipated collection aims to celebrate Batman’s 85th Anniversary. The Funko x Batman NFT collection will start minting today, June 11, 2024.

Batman is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger and debuted in the 27th issue of Detective Comics on March 30, 1939. This year, Batman is turning 85 years old.

For the past twenty years, Batman has been featured in various comic films. In 2022, following the brand’s landmark film, The Batman, its creator, DC Comics, marked its entrance into the Web3 space with a sizeable NFT undertaking entitled The Bat Cowl.

The Bat Cowl collection highlighted unique headpieces that have been important facets of the superhero’s 83-year-old history. Bat Cowl NFTs presented collectors with the chance to both own a piece of Batman’s legacy and join the Web3 iteration of DC Comics: DC Universe.

In a related upcoming event, DC Comics will launch an exclusive experience next month to mark the 85th Anniversary of its most iconic Superhero, Batman. The all-new experience will show a never-before-seen UK collection of original props, vehicles, and costumes direct from the Archives at Batman Unmasked.

In the meantime, the Batman 85th Series 1 x FUNKO NFT collection is slated to start minting today, June 11, at 11 am PT. The NFT collection will feature two collectible tiers, the Standard and the Premium Pack. The Standard NFT collection will feature a limited edition of 18,000 NFTs, containing 5 random Digital Pop, ranging from Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Ultra, Legendary, or Grail.

The Premium pack will feature a limited supply of 24,000 NFT collections, selling at $29.99. In this tier, collectors will get 15 random Digital Pop! for the same price of 3 standard packs plus two extra Digital Pop! for only $0.01 each. Batman 85th Series 1 x Funko will only be available for secondary sale.
