The Ethereum price has surged 7% in the last 24 hours to trade at $3,927 as of 12:28 a.m. EST on a 64% rise in trading volume to $37.7 billion.
This increase in the ETH price comes as a pseudonymous crypto trader on X, Pentoshi, says that the top altcoin is experiencing unquenchable demand and should soon hit a new all-time high (ATH) price.
ETH last hit its ATH of $4,878 in November 2021. With the recent rally, the price is now just 19% away from surpassing this key resistance level. Can the bulls maintain the current momentum?
Ethereum Price Set For A New All-Time High
The ETH price has been trading in a strong rising channel pattern since mid-April, with price action consistently making higher highs and higher lows.
Recently, the Ethereum price broke above the 0.236 Fibonacci retracement level at $3,349 and is now challenging the previous swing high near $3,955, as data from GeckoTerminal shows.
The bullish channel remains intact, with the lower trendline providing steady support. The overall structure suggests a continuation of the bullish momentum unless a breakdown below channel support occurs.
Meanwhile, the 50-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) ($3,115) has crossed above the 200-day SMA ($2,509), confirming a golden cross at $2,596 and reinforcing the bullish bias.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) currently stands at 66.54, close to the overbought threshold of 70, signaling strong momentum and some space for a sustained uptrend before the asset becomes oversold.
If bullish momentum continues and the price of ETH closes decisively above $3,955, the next major target lies near the 0.618 Fibonacci extension at $5,540, representing a potential 40% upside from current levels.
The Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) is positive at 0.12, showing sustained buying pressure and healthy capital inflows into the asset.
However, failure to hold above $3,349 (0.236 Fib level) could invite a retest of the $3,115 (50-day SMA) support zone, with a deeper correction possible if the channel structure breaks.
