The Ethereum price went up 1% in the last 24 hours to trade at $2,640 as of 5:05 a.m. EST on trading volume that dropped 18% to $16.38 billion.
The ETH price saw a significant increase after a recent dip, following a statement by its co-founder, Vitalik Buterin. Buterin said that Ethereum’s layer-1 (L1) is expected to scale approximately tenfold within the next year, followed by a pause before its subsequent major upgrade.
He made the statement during the recently concluded ETHGlobal Prague, noting that the L1 is set to see a major upgrade in the next year. He also responded to questions regarding Ethereum’s scalability goals, saying that the L1 should scale 10x. He emphasized that the priority is “scaling safely,” highlighting the need to strike a balance between scalability improvements and the preservation of decentralization.
Ethereum Price Prediction
Ethereum’s price saw a sharp dip last week, as the weekend started. It surged to $2,771 on May 29, only to start spiraling down over the next several days to a support at $2,500. However, Buterin’s announcement rekindled interest in the coin, pumping its price back up toward a resistance at $2,650.
In the last 24h, ETH attempted to breach the resistance several times, and while its price was rejected every time, a strong support at $2,600 allowed it to bounce back up. The token’s Bollinger Bands were quick to widen with every minor surge, although not as much as they did back during the June 2 surge.

Its Relative Strength Index (RSI) shows cautious optimism among traders, as well. After venturing into the overbought zone and climbing beyond the value of 80 on early June 3, it dropped back to the neutral area, fluctuating around the value of 50 in the last 24 hours.
It ventured to the edge of the overbought zone twice during that time, but traders were quick to take profits as it reached this barrier, even pushing the RSI down to 40 during their sell-offs. Since the start of the day, ETH has seen its RSI fluctuate between roughly 54 and 66, exhibiting smaller movements, but the fact that it has remained above 50 is encouraging.
