Bitcoin may be headed for a ‘’massive breakout’’ after Metaplanet ramped up its holdings to 7,800 BTC, and as analysts say a surge past its all-time high could be imminent.
The Japan-based investment firm’s CEO, Simon Gerovich, revealed today that it snapped up another 1,004 BTC for around $104.3 million, taking its total BTC holdings to 7,800.
The move came just after Bitcoin logged its highest-ever weekly candle close at $106,500, according to TradingView data.
That move has fuelled fresh bullish calls. Crypto Rover told his 1.2 million X followers that the “insanely bullish close” sets the stage for a “massive breakout.”

Rekt Capital echoed the optimism, saying Bitcoin’s close above $105K is likely to be followed by a “brand new higher high” for the king of cryptos.
The bullish sentiment around Bitcoin also comes after Moody’s downgraded the US credit rating Aaa to Aa1 on Friday, citing ballooning debt.
Amid growing concerns over US fiscal stability, BTC’s status as a digital “safe haven” is gaining traction amid the potential fallout from mounting debt on growth, and inflation risks.
