Atsuko Sato, the Japanese woman whose dog inspired the creation of meme coin titan Dogecoin (DOGE) and the rapidly-rising NEIRO, is igniting the meme coin market once again after a token bearing her name soared 483%.

The new token, Atsuko Sato (SATO), is taking off in a way that is reminiscent of the early performance of DOGE and First Neiro On Ethereum (NEIRO).

Dogecoin, created as a joke, has skyrocketed by more than 18,000% since its launch while the younger NEIRO has exploded more than 1,900% in the last 7 days, according to CoinMarketCap. The NEIRO price surge this week was spurred by its listing on Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange.

Kabosu, the Face of Cryptocurrency Dogecoin, Dies at 18, Owner Says

Shiba Inu Dog Kabosu Inspired The Creation Of Dogecoin

Kabosu, a Shiba Inu dog who was adopted by Atsuko Sato in 2008, became an internet sensation when her photo was posted on Sato’s blog in 2010. One particular image of Kabosu, with her signature expression, went viral and inspired the creation of Dogecoin.

Sato announced in May that Kabosu had passed away peacefully in her sleep after the canine’s health took a turn for the worst in 2022. Kabosu’s owner then welcomed a new dog called Neiro, which led to a tsunami of tokens with the same name flooding the market.

According to the SATO token’s website, the new meme coin will pay tribute to Sato and serve as a testament to “the power of love and kindness.” It will also provide a way “for the world to give back,” ensuring that Sato’s legacy continues.

Pepe Rallies Over 1,000% In A Year, But Could This New ICO Dethrone It?

The launch of Dogecoin led to the creation of a meme coin sector in the crypto market that is driven by communities. Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Pepe (PEPE) rose to become the next two biggest meme coins, and now the sector has a market capitalization of $41.4 billion, according to CoinGecko.

These days, almost every meme coin that launches aims to be the next DOGE, SHIB or PEPE, and meme coin investors dream of snaring a 1000X crypto.

One new challenger that’s getting a lot of analyst attention recently is Pepe Unchained (PEPU), which is one of the most successful presales of the year after raising more than $13.6 million so far.

It comes with its own blockchain, a first for a meme coin, and aims to dethrone PEPE as the top frog-themed meme coin.
