Lawyers for Sam Bankman-Fried hinted that the fallen crypto mogul may testify in his trial for fraud and conspiracy and urged that he be provided stronger doses of medicine for ADHD to help him concentrate.

In a letter to Judge Lewis Kaplan dated Oct. 15, Bankman-Fried’s lawyers said their client is receiving inadequate doses of Adderall in prison to treat ADHD.

“As we approach the defense case and the critical decision of whether Mr. Bankrnan-Fried will testify, the defense has a growing concem that because of Mr. Bankman-Fried’s lack of access to Adderall he has not been able to concentrate at the level he ordinarily would and that he will not be able to meaningfully participate in the presentation of the defense case,” the letter said.

Adderall is a medication commonly prescribed for people afflicted by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD.

Prosecutors anticipate that their case will conclude around midday on Oct. 26, with attention then shifting to the defense team

Bankman-Fried: The Battle For Medication

Bankman-Fried’s legal team has been advocating for their client to a receive stronger dose of Adderall since the former FTX CEO was remanded.

Their efforts had initial success but faced increasing challenges during the trial. The defence said it had attempted to resolve the issue with the Bureau of Prisons but had received no response to numerous emails and voice messages.

Seeking Solutions

Bankman-Fried, founder of bankrupt crypto exchange FTX, is now receiving a morning dose of Adderall that has typically worn off by the time the jury assembles in the courtroom, his lawyers said. He receives no further doses until he returns to the Brooklyn lockup at night, they added.

Should no imminent solution be found to the medication issue, the lawyers proposed a one-day adjournment tomorrow to resolve it.
