Gaming giant Roblox has refuted reports that Ripple’s XRP token can be used for in-game transactions, and said no crypto payments are allowed on its platform, Decrypt reported.

Stories that XRP could be used on Roblox began to circulate following a tweet from payments processor BitPay.

”Xsolla now accepts XRP with BitPay as a payment method for their games such as Smite and Roblox,” it tweeted. “You can use your favourite cryptocurrency to buy, play, and enjoy gaming like never before.”

The tweet was later deleted with BitPay’s CMO, Bill Zielke, citing an error in the post and promising future updates on crypto acceptance by merchants.

Roblox’s Clear Stance on the Issue

While Roblox does work with Xsolla as a payment provider, it said that it does not facilitate cryptocurrency transactions, be it Bitcoin or XRP, Decrypt reported.

“The info isn’t accurate,” Roblox said.

Xsolla Distances Itself from BitPay’s Tweet

Xsolla, a tech firm that provides payment solutions, clarified that it offers various payment options for developers, with BitPay being just one of them, and distanced itself from the now-deleted BitPay post, according to the story.

Xsolla’s website says it had provided a gift card solution for Roblox in 2020 and is listed as a payment provider on Roblox’s website for credit card transactions.

Xsolla’s payment solutions extend to various other gaming companies, including Valve, Twitch, Epic Games, and Krafton.
