The XRP price slid 2% in the past 24 hours to trade at $3.44 as of 5:11 a.m. EST, with an 8% rise in trading volume to $8.9 billion.
However, the Ripple token price is still up 66% in the last month. Meanwhile, Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, may have missed the opportunity to earn from this surge.
According to Portnoy, he sold his XRP holdings at $2.40 two weeks before the digital asset hit a new all-time high (ATH) of $3.66.
He said he sold because the person who had advised him to buy the digital asset suggested it had peaked and was unlikely to rise further due to competition from Circle.

XRP Price Breaks Out As Bulls Push Past The Downtrend
The XRP price has staged a dramatic breakout from a long-standing descending channel that defined its price action for several months.
The Ripple token price decisively exited the downward sloping channel in early July and has since surged upward in a near-vertical rally.
This parabolic move follows a textbook bullish breakout setup, where the price consolidated within a falling wedge and then reversed direction explosively.
Before the breakout, XRP formed a higher low pattern along the lower boundary of the channel, signaling waning bearish momentum.
After the breakout above both the 50-day ($2.44) and 200-day ($2.42) Simple Moving Averages (SMAs), the XRP price rallied to a local high of $3.57, currently settling near $3.44, well above both SMAs.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is currently at 77.38, indicating overbought conditions. While this reflects strong bullish momentum, it also suggests the potential for a short-term pullback or consolidation before any continuation higher.
Meanwhile, the blue Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) line (0.33) is above the orange signal line (0.25), with a widening gap between the two. This supports continued upward momentum.
Ripple Token Aims For A New ATH
XRP has entered a new bullish phase. As long as the price holds above the breakout zone near $2.70, the trend remains bullish, with the next target at $4, which is a new ATH.
In the event of a consolidation phase, a retest of the 50-day SMA near $2.44 could act as support before another leg upward.
