The second series of Solana smartphones is already amassing much interest, hitting 60,000 pre-orders within three weeks.
The new series, dubbed “Solana Mobile Chapter 2,” is the second smartphone by the network following the success of the Solana Mobile Saga.

New Solana Mobile Series
The new phone series was announced in mid-January, when it was revealed that the new version would have crypto-supporting software targeting Web3 users. Priced at $450, the phones will start shipping next year.
There will be a free Element non-fungible token (NFT) to the top 1,500 referrals for the new phone. The first snapshot is happening on Feb. 6, when eligible users will get a pre-order token.
The earlier Saga phone was an instant hit in the market. Initially announced in June 2022, it came with an initial price tag of $1,000 that was dropped to $599.
The phone sold out in the US on Dec. 15 with interest surging after it was revealed the phones would come with free $BONK tokens.
Solana Outage
Despite the success of its smartphones, the Solana outage today may affect confidence as the network continues to be plagued by down time. Today’s outage put the Solana network down at around 05:22 EST on Feb. 6, making it the 11th outage within two years.

Block production on the blockchain was halted, with engineers and validators actively investigating the matter.
