Bored Ape NFTs Explode In Sales After Yuga Labs Revealed A New Mataverse Journey

Bored Ape Yacht Club, a non-fungible token collection from the digital asset firm Yuga Labs, has exploded in sales volume in recent days. The NFT collection began retesting some market hype earlier this week after the digital asset firm revealed a new metaverse gaming journey.

Yuga Labs Reveals ‘Apes Come Home’ Metaverse Game

Earlier this week, Yuga Labs, through its metaverse gaming venture Otherside, announced the third trip of its metaverse journey dubbed “Apes Come Home.”The bullish announcement has pushed the popular Yuga Labs NFT collection, including Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs.

Data compiled by CryptoSlam.io, an on-chain data aggregator, indicates that Bored Ape Yacht Club, an NFT collection that features a limited edition of 10,000 NFTs hosted on the Ethereum blockchain network, has surged in sales volume in recent days. In the past 24 hours, Bored Ape has attracted a trading sales volume of $2.3million.

Mutant Ape Yacht Club is another all-time top-selling NFT collection from the digital asset firm Yuga Labs that has seen a spike in recent days. In the past 24 hours, the Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT collection has amassed a trading sales volume of $601,592. During this period, Bored Ape NFT sales are up 145%, while Mutant Ape NFTs are up 136%.

Yuga Labs’ NFT And Metaverse Journey

Established in 2021, Yuga Labs is home to some of the most popular NFT collections, including Bored Ape Kennel Club, Koda, Twelve Fold, Sewer Pass, Mutant Ape Yacht Club and the flagship NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club. The digital asset firm also holds intellectual properties for Meebits and CryptoPunks NFT collections.

The digital asset firm started offering a metaverse experience sometime in mid-2022. At the time, Yuga Labs launched Otherside, a 3D metaverse that appears to offer a gaming format for Bored Ape NFT holders, in partnership with Animoca Brands to allow participants to interact using avatars.

The Otherside metaverse project is ultimately an MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) connected to the BAYC ecosystem. The NFT game allows players to own the land in the virtual world while transforming their NFTs into playable characters.

Since its inception, Otherside has launched several metaverse journeys. Earlier last year, Yuga Labs launched Dookey Dash, an interactive skill-based NFT minting game where players compete to get the highest score in order to win potentially valuable rewards.

In September 2023, the Bored Ape Yacht Club creator announced the official launching of its Legends of the Mara (LotM) game experience, granting Otherdeed virtual land NFT holders a new NFT, another taste of the broader Otherside metaverse. Yuga Labs is set to launch another metaverse experience, “Ape Come Home”, this February 2024.
