The XRP price dropped 3% in the past 24 hours to trade at $2.849 as of 3:53 a.m. EST, with a 40% rise in trading volume to $11.5 billion.
This comes as Ali Martinez, a popular crypto analyst on X, predicted that the price of Ripple’s token could soar by 68% to reach a new all-time high (ATH) of $4.80, provided it successfully breaks through the $3 resistance level.

However, the price of XRP still needs to clear the previous ATH at $3.40. Can the bulls recover from the slight drop?
XRP Price Aims For A 16% Surge In The Short Term To This Resistance
After hitting the $3.38 high in January, just shy of its ATH at $3.40, the XRP price went on to drop within a well-defined falling wedge pattern, which in most cases acts as a bullish reversal pattern.
However, the $2.10 mark acted as a major support within the wedge, which allowed the Ripple token price to surge above the upper boundary to the $3.03 resistance level, as GeckoTerminal data shows.
Despite the retracement to the current price around $2.84, the XRP price is still bullish, as it has consistently traded above both the 50 and 200 Simple Moving Averages (SMAs) on the 3-day chart.
Meanwhile, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) is rising, currently at 67, a sign that buyers are still in control. The RSI also shows that buyers still have some space to buy before the asset becomes overbought.
Moreover, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) shows signs of a bullish crossover, with the blue MACD line crossing above the orange signal line.
If the XRP price manages to keep rising, the recent resistance level at $3.38 is the next target, signaling a 16% surge.
On the flipside, the breakout level acts as a major support zone at $2.22.
