Chiru Labs, the digital asset incubation studio and team behind the anime non-fungible token collection and merchandise brand Azuki, has appointed Mr. Steve Chung, a former Fox and CJ ENM growth executive, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Steve Chung Joins Azuki As New COO
In a June 20 blog post, Chiru Labs, through its Azuki X account, confirmed the appointment of Steve Chung as its new Chief Operating Officer. The Chief Operating Officer is a new office created to harness the growth of all non-fungible token projects within the Chiru Labs.

Established in 2021, Chiru Labs is a web3 studio shaping the future of storytelling. The digital asset firm builds products at the intersection of art, technology, and community. Chiru Labs is the creator of Azuki, a non-fungible token featuring a limited edition of 10,000 anime-themed NFTs hosted on the Ethereum blockchain network.
Chiru Labs is home to other non-fungible token collections, including the BEANZ, a non-fungible featuring a limited supply of 19,995 NFTs hosted on the Ethereum blockchain net; Azuki Elementals, a non-fungible token featuring a limited set of 20,000 NFTs, the Physical Backed Token, and the ERC-721A contract.
Steve Chung Short Bio
In its recent advancement plans, the Azuki team has appointed Mr. Steve Chung as the new Chief Operating Officer. Chung brings deep expertise from his roles as Chief Global Officer of CJ ENM, Chief Executive Officer of CJ ENM USA, and Chief Growth Officer at FOX.
Chung is also a former Hollywood Executive. According to the Azuki team, his talent for taking Korean content globally and driving growth in Hollywood will be a game-changer for expanding the Azuki IP and connecting the anime industry with web3. While commenting about his new appointment at Azuki, Chung remarked:
“I am thrilled to join this world-class team to develop the next generation powerhouse in the industry as anime content and consumers quickly expand to become an ever more important and mainstream segment of global media. Even as a new entrant, the Azuki already has a proven track record of building a passionate community and has a clear vision of how to build IP and experiences tailor made for anime fans, working alongside some of the greatest creators in the industry to achieve something that’s never been done before.”
In his new office, Chung will be responsible for separately signing up as a contributor to Azuki and be closely involved with the launch of AnimeChain, a blockchain network designed for and by anime fans that will act as the first step in redefining anime community engagement.
