The Next-Level Bitcoin update, Recursive Inscriptions, pushes Bitcoin’s boundaries even further.  This update will give you new interactive experiences within the Bitcoin ecosystem. Users can also express themselves creatively on the Bitcoin network with the update’s generative art.

Later this week, an update called Recursive Inscriptions will be released. Ordinal inscriptions can now refer to another inscription on the Bitcoin blockchain. Ordinals are non-fungible tokens (NFT) on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Bitcoin Update Revolutionizes Storage and Empowers NFTs

With Bitcoin’s recent update, inscriptions can retrieve data from other inscriptions and files, improving storage efficiency for various data, like traits used in generative art. By optimizing the blockchain, Bitcoin can support diverse data types and decentralized applications beyond just cryptocurrency. After the update, Bitcoin becomes a more versatile innovation platform, opening up new creative ventures.

Rather than inscribing 10,000 JPEG files for a [profile picture] collection individually, which would be pretty expensive, you could inscribe the 200 traits from the collection and then make 10,000 more inscriptions that each use a small amount of code to request traits and programmatically render the image.

LeniodasNFT pointed out on Twitter.

As of Monday, there were 11.6 million inscriptions generated on Ordinals, according to Dune Analytics. Together, these inscriptions resulted in 1,702 BTC or $44.13 million in fees. A growing adoption and utilization of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Bitcoin blockchain is evident in this intense interest and engagement. This shows the value and demand of Ordinals’ unique digital assets and creative expressions.

BRC-721E Enables Ethereum-to-Bitcoin NFT Transfer, Expanding Possibilities

The introduction of BRC-721E paved the way for the “recursive inscriptions” update, which allows non-fungible tokens (NFT) to be transferred from Ethereum to Bitcoin. Bitcoin’s capabilities broadened, enabling it to support NFTs and their growing ecosystem.

Now users can transfer and interact with NFTs on Bitcoin, enabling new opportunities for digital art, collectibles, and other tokenized assets. The integration strengthens Ethereum and Bitcoin’s interoperability, making the blockchain ecosystem more dynamic and interconnected.
