WARNING: New crypto casino scam going around - They let you win then lock your account

Just got burned by what seems to be a new type of crypto casino scam and wanted to warn everyone here. Posting this so others don't fall for the same trap.

Here's how it worked:
  1. Found a new crypto casino called "CryptoWinX" through a Telegram group (red flag #1 I ignored)
  2. They had a "new player promotion" where first-time deposits get 150% bonus with only 10x wagering (red flag #2 - too good to be true)
  3. Deposited 0.1 ETH to try it out
  4. Won consistently on their slots for the first two days, turning my balance into 0.35 BTC (red flag #3 - suspiciously easy wins)
  5. Request withdrawal, they asked for "verification" despite advertising as "no KYC"
  6. Provided basic docs thinking it was normal procedure
  7. Account immediately locked for "suspicious activity" and all funds frozen
  8. Support went completely silent, won't respond to messages

After some digging, found at least 5 other people in different Discord servers who had the exact same experience with same casino. They let new players win initially to build trust and deposit more, then lock accounts once withdrawal is requested.

The casino appears to be a clone script of a legitimate site but with manipulated games. They're also operating under multiple different names with the same backend.

Names to watch out for:

  • CryptoWinX
  • BetCrypto247
  • WinBitCoins
Also, any casino that sound like the well-established ones (e.g. LuckBlock instead of LuckyBlock)

Just wanted to share this so others don't make the same mistake. Stick to established crypto casinos with verifiable track records.

Anyone else encountered similar scams lately?

Yep, unfortunately this is becoming more common. Thanks for the warning.

There's a whole network of these scam casinos operating off the same template. They typically have these red flags:

  • Launched in the last 3-6 months
  • Suspiciously high bonuses with low wagering requirements
  • No company information or licensing details
  • Extremely generous initial win rates for new players
  • Games from providers you've never heard of
  • Aggressive Telegram/Discord promotion
  • Website design that closely mimics a legitimate casino

I've seen the same pattern with casinos called "BitProfitX" and "MoonGambleCrypto" - same MO, same outcome.

I stick to the established crypto casinos that have been around for years and have proven track records. Places like TG Casino and others listed on InsideBitcoins have been the best casinos I've played at. Before you even consider creating an account, check professional reviews online... yeah some of them are affiliates, but they still have to test the platform before promoting it.

Sorry you got caught by this. Consider reporting to crypto fraud tracking sites so others can be warned too.

Got caught by one of these too last month! Mine was called "ElonDogeCasino" (should've been obvious from the name alone 🤦‍♂️).

Exact same pattern - easy wins at first, built up a decent balance, then account locked when I tried to withdraw. They claimed I violated their terms by using a VPN, which I wasn't even using.

Lost about 0.08 BTC which still hurts. Lesson learned the hard way. Now I only use casinos that have been recommended by trusted sources and have been around for a while.

@Sadnica - did they ask for any sensitive documents during your "verification" process? Mine asked for photos of credit cards and other sketchy requests that legitimate casinos would never ask for.

These scam operations have exploded in the past year due to the crypto casino boom. They operate in a legal gray area that makes them difficult to shut down.

What we're seeing is an evolution of the old "rigged casino" scams from the early internet gambling days, just updated for crypto. The lack of regulatory oversight in the crypto gambling space makes it particularly attractive to scammers.

For anyone looking to avoid these scams, here are some guidelines:
  1. Licensing - Check if they have a legitimate gambling license (Curaçao, Malta, Isle of Man, etc.)
  2. Longevity - Casinos that have operated for 2+ years are less likely to be scams
  3. Community Presence - Legitimate operations typically have active communities and transparent team members
  4. Game Providers - Verify they're using games from legitimate providers (most providers have verification tools)
  5. Ownership Transparency - Legitimate operations will have clear information about their corporate structure

If you're unsure, stick to established names. Mega Dice has been around for a while and it still has a clean reputation.
