It was passed out of the House Ways and Means Committee on Feb. 25, with the House passing the resolution on March 11.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Representative Mike Carey, who backed the bill to scrap the DeFi broker rule, said in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/carey.house.gov\/2025\/04\/10\/carey-bill-to-eliminate-burdensome-irs-defi-crypto-broker-rule-signed-into-law-by-president-trump\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">statement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the rule &ldquo;hindered American innovation, infringed on privacy of everyday Americans, and was set to overwhelm the IRS.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#128680; HISTORY MADE &#128680;<\/p>\n<p>Just now, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@POTUS<\/a> signed my bill to repeal to the IRS DeFi Crypto Broker Rule.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first cryptocurrency bill EVER signed into law by a president.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HouseGOP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@HouseGOP<\/a> is working to keep America as the crypto capital of the world!<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Congressman Mike Carey (@RepMikeCarey) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMikeCarey\/status\/1910463202216886513?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 10, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, not everyone share&rsquo;s Carey&rsquo;s view. Opposition to the resolution, including Democratic Representative Lloyd Doggett, argue that killing the DeFi broker rule would open up a loophole that the wealthy can exploit to cheat the tax system.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stablecoin Legislation Is The Next Crypto Priority For Congress<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the resolution to scrap the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/insidebitcoins.com\/news\/trump-poised-to-axe-irs-defi-broker-rule-after-senate-passes-resolution-sparking-crypto-community-celebrations\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DeFi broker rule<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the next crypto-related priority for Congress is stablecoin legislation.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bills related to stablecoin legislation have already passed the relevant committees in both the House and Senate, and are now waiting for floor votes in each chamber.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">President <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/insidebitcoins.com\/news\/trumps-pro-crypto-pick-paul-atkins-confirmed-as-sec-chair-despite-ftx-ties\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trump<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight:
