BlackRock CEO Larry Fink said cryptocurrencies are “digitizing gold\u2019\u2019 and that Bitcoin may help \u2018\u2019revolutionise finance,\u2019\u2019 underscoring why the world\u2019s biggest money manager is striving to launch a landmark spot bitcoin ETF.<\/p>\n

Fink\u2019s comments, made in a Fox Business interview on Wednesday, came hard on the heels of the world’s biggest money manager\u2019s application<\/a> on June 15 to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a spot Bitcoin ETF, which ignited a rally in cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin has jumped almost 23% since BlackRock’s application was filed and Bitcoin Cash<\/a> is up 187%.<\/p>\n

“Let\u2019s be clear, Bitcoin is an international asset, it\u2019s not based on any one currency and so it can represent an asset that people can play as an alternative,\u2019\u2019 Fink said. “The role of crypto is digitizing gold, in many ways.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
