The United Kingdom is not yet prepared to issue a central bank digital currency (CBDC). According to the Deputy Governor, Jon Cunliffe, the Bank of England (BoE) needs more expertise. During the treasury select committee hearing<\/a> on February 28, the deputy governor noted that ”there is a 50% chance that the central bank of the United Kingdom would issue a CBDC.
