{"id":308709,"date":"2021-10-19T14:52:09","date_gmt":"2021-10-19T18:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insidebitcoins.com\/?p=308709"},"modified":"2021-10-19T19:08:14","modified_gmt":"2021-10-19T23:08:14","slug":"coinbase-set-to-sponsor-the-nba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/insidebitcoins.com\/news\/coinbase-set-to-sponsor-the-nba","title":{"rendered":"Coinbase Set to Sponsor the NBA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Basketball Association has inked a sponsorship deal with cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/10\/19\/nba-lands-first-cryptocurrency-sponsorship-with-coinbase.html\">CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the NBA&rsquo;s first cryptocurrency sponsorship, following in the footsteps of Major League Baseball (MLB) which made a deal with crypto exchange <em>FTX<\/em>, and Formula 1 which made a deal with <em>Crypto.com<\/em>, both earlier in 2021.<\/p>\n<h2>NBA &amp; Coinbase a &lsquo;Natural Fit&rsquo;<\/h2>\n<p>NBA marketing executive Kerry Tatlock said in a statement: &lsquo;A<em>s a trusted cryptocurrency platform used by millions, Coinbase is a natural fit as the NBA&rsquo;s first-ever partner in this thriving category.&rsquo;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Coinbase brand will now appear on nationally-televised broadcasts of all the National Basketball Association&rsquo;s platforms, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The WNBA<\/li>\n<li>NBA G League<\/li>\n<li>NBA 2K League<\/li>\n<li>USA Basketball<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/insidebitcoins.com\/visit\/coinbase\" rel=\"nofollow\">Coinbase<\/a> recently held their IPO and now are a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq under the ticker COIN with a $64 billion market cap.<\/p>\n<p>This move into sponsoring a major sports league is another step towards the exchange becoming a household name for hundreds of millions of people, which can only be positive news for the cryptocurrency markets.<\/p>\n<p>Many basketball fans will have heard the buzz around Bitcoin once again approaching its all-time highs around $65,000 and will now be shown how to <a href=\"https:\/\/insidebitcoins.com\/buy-cryptocurrency\/buy-bitcoin\">buy Bitcoin<\/a> on their TV screens.<\/p>\n<p>&lsquo;<em>As part of the partnership, we will create interactive experiences to engage with the NBA and WNBA&rsquo;s incredible community and athletes around the world<\/em>&lsquo; &ndash; Coinbase chief marketing officer Kate Rouch commented.<\/p>\n<p>The owner of the NBA&rsquo;s Dallas Mavericks, <a href=\"https:\/\/insidebitcoins.com\/news\/billionaires-buying-bitcoin\">billionaire Mark Cuban<\/a>, has been vocal about his support for Bitcoin and Ethereum, investing in both himself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fin-excerpt\">The National Basketball Association has inked a sponsorship deal with cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, according to CNBC.
