NEW YORK (InsideBitcoins) — Innovative small business owners are coming together to leverage bitcoin in a brand new way.
It’s called BitCoin Boulevard and according to the organization’s website the group of independent businesses range from Sweetie Fry, a restaurant that serves ice cream and French fries to Revive a “global sustainable style” boutique retailer.
The one thing they all have in common is their passion about bitcoin.
According to a statement published on their website, “We are intrigued by Bitcoin’s popularity as an emerging technology, its potential to increase our margins and brand awareness, and the discussions it presents in regards to small business innovation.”
Currently there are 12 businesses participating in the promotion, which started in May.
The concept “BitCoin Boulevard” refers to the physical location of all the shops which are all located along Lee Road in the business district of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, about seven miles east of downtown Cleveland.
The effort has been a marketing success — attracting publicity from around the nation including Newsweek, NPR, Fusion TV, The Washington Post, and more. The idea originated in The Hague, Netherlands which launched their Bitcoin Boulevard in March.
Catherine Bleish, a blogger and podcaster wrote for Yahoo about how her family took a road trip and paid for everything exclusively with Bitcoin and how much they enjoyed the shops at BitCoin Boulevard.
The “Bitcoin Boulevard.US” website was developed by CoinNEO, an organization founded by Nikhil Chand who says via his website that, “Digital currency payment networks, led by Bitcoin, may eventually acquire global recognition as one of the most important commerce technology innovations since the invention of the Internet.”
This type of creative promotion among retailers is sure to attract even more interest in cryptocurrency.
