Italian football club AC Milan has announced plans to launch its $ACM fans token in collaboration with fintech blockchain company Chiliz. The crypto-token will go live on fan engagement and rewards app Socios.com next week.

AC Milan Joins An Elite Class

The token launch will see fans access a range of benefits, including the right to vote in club decisions each season, VIP rewards and experiences, exclusive club and sponsor promotions, and many other privileges.

Once it launches, AC Milan wants fans to decide on a new club motto to inspire the first-team players for the remainder of the 2020-2021 football season. The fans token will cost $6.68 on issuance.

AC Milan has etched its name in world club football as one of the most successful clubs of all time. Having 18 FIFA and UEFA trophies to its name, the Rossoneri has a massive following of over 500 million and a large fanbase in Asia.

The Milan club will be joining a host of other European clubs on the fans’ engagement platform, with notable rivals Juventus already there. FC Barcelona, Paris-Saint Germain, and Trabzonspor have also made Socios their home.

Examples of fans making decisions through the reward app include Apollo FC fans choosing their first-team players for a friendly match. Juventus’ fans also used the platform to vote on the team’s goal celebration song. PSG fans selected a message to be worn on the captain’s armband and voting on their player of the season awards. FC Barcelona fans designed an artwork for the Camp Nou dressing room.

The World Of Sports Looks To Crypto

Aside from football clubs, other sporting organizations are already looking to crypto as a way through which they can stay in touch with fans during the pandemic. Esports organizations like Team Heretics, NAVI, OG and Alliance have all launched fan tokens on the platform.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) organizers have signed a global fan engagement agreement already and the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organizers are looking to launch a similar project in the coming months.

Chiliz has assured fans who initially bought the ‘Milan Devils’ token that their coins will be converted to $ACM token in the coming weeks.

Mauro Tavola, Partnerships Director at AC Milan said:

“We are delighted to be able to activate our partnership with Chiliz and launch our very first poll on Socios.com — allowing our over 500 million fans across the world to have their voices heard. This first poll is a special one for our fans as it lets them decide on a winning message to be placed inside the first-team dressing room at the San Siro, which is a fantastic way for our fans to be closer to the team in these difficult times.”

More football clubs are also looking to debut a fan-centered token in the coming months.
