NEW YORK (InsideBitcoins) — Washington is curious about cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin. In an attempt to learn more about Bitcoin – and share a learning experience – House Reps. Jared Polis D-Colo., Robert W. Goodlatte, R-Va., and Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C., are hosting a “Bitcoin Demo Day” this evening from 5-7 p.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building.
Polis is a well-known Bitcoin advocate, even accepting the digital currency for campaign donations.
Industry startups including Coinbase, BitPay and BitGO will be on hand to answer questions. Representatives from travel site Expedia, which began accepting Bitcoin earlier this year, as well as the Bitcoin Foundation, will also attend the event.
A press release said the event will bring “industry experts to the Capitol to discuss the basics of digital currencies and demonstrate recent developments in this exciting new frontier.”
