By Inside Bitcoins Feb 5, 2015 6:56 AM EDT

NEW YORK (InsideBitcoins) — BitPay, the Atlanta-based bitcoin payment processor, reports that during December of last year bitcoin exceeded 100,000 merchants accepting the cryptocurrency for payment. The company also says that more than half of those businesses accept bitcoin through BitPay.

The merchant adoption statistic is included in an infographic published on BitPay’s blog entitled “Bitcoin Year in Review.” The feature details a variety of bitcoin facts, including the year-over-year growth of wallets (3.19 million in 2013 versus 7.95 million in 2014 — a 149% increase), trading volume, venture capital investments and more:

  • That rocket is going to the moon! 🙂
