Square, the finance app turned Bitcoin wallets from Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, is working on multiple open source projects in the crypto space. According to a tweet from Square, the projects “will make mass adoption not just possible but inevitable.”

Moving forward slowly

Dorsey then replied to this tweet with a quote tweet, stating that it “took some time but getting there”. This news comes to us after Dorsey said Square would be bringing in a couple of new employees including a few developers and a designer. They would be working on this new Bitcoin-related project he has in mind. Notably, he said they would pay full-time salaries in cryptocurrency.

As CCN reports, users can already purchase cryptocurrency within the application, alongside trade it with others on the Square network. As of now, no company aside from Square is public and provides a way to buy Bitcoin.

The Twitter CEO wants to move Bitcoin and the world of cryptocurrency forward. Square is his avenue of doing so. Dorsey views his project as “the most impactful thing” he can do to help the crypto community.

Also, one should note that Dorsey is put $2.5 million into Lightning Labs, the startup behind Bitcoin’s Lightning Network. That and the man “passed the torch” during one of the Network’s testing periods.

Not only is his approach to revolutionize how the world views crypto, but also change the design of applications. This is why the CEO wants to bring on a designer as well as developers. In a tweet, Dorsey says:

“Why add a designer into the mix? I believe this is an underfunded area in the crypto ecosystem. Great design will help more people access this technology faster and better.”

Regardless, it’s never been a question how much Dorsey is into Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. He’s always been vocal about his backing, and how he hopes Bitcoin will be the internet’s “native currency.”
